Park Laurel
The Park Laurel, 15 West 63rd Street, New York, NY
Structural concrete with brick cladding and cast stone detailing.
The Park Laurel is a forty-story residential tower located in the Upper West Side-Central Park West Historic District. The tower is a 2002 addition which sits atop the New York City YMCA, originally constructed between 1928-1930.
The project began with achieving Local Law 11 compliance and, due to several unsafe conditions, expanded to large-scale maintenance and repair work throughout the building. Due to its unusual cantilever structure, rooftop mechanical systems and wide cornices, the building proved to be challenging as a rigging and inspection project for the Facade Program.
